Notes : Fitted with autocoupler couplings.
Taking place at Thornaby TMD on the 28th September 2002, 08389 recieved the Noel Kirton OBE nameplates during a private ceremony. Mr Kirton was a district advisor of ASLEF at Thornaby.
Whilst at Thornaby TMD, 08389 was put into store on the 5th February 2004. It was only in store for twelve days, so on the 17th, it was reinstated back to traffic ( WSWM. ) The 25th June saw the 08 being removed from Thornaby, and taken by road to Warrington, to where it was deposited later on.
After a period in store, was returned to active status in April 2008, following repairs at Warrington Arpley TMD.
Due the arrival of 08653 at Warrington, 08389 was removed by road, suffering from a worn generator bearing. Leaving in the afternoon on the 7th August 2009, it was en-route to Toton, being unloaded at the Balfour Beatty sidings later on in the day. As expected, on the 25th September, the 08 was put in to store, transferring to WNTS from its previous active pool, WSSN.
