Whilst operating at Daventry's IRFT sometime in the early part of the February 2004, 08567 caught fire. On the 19th, it was moved by road to Bescot for repairs and an assessment on its future. Because of the damage to the shunter, EWS officially put 08567 in store on the 2nd April, transferring it into the WSYX pool. The 29th June saw the EWS liveried 08, loaded onto road transport, leaving the West Midlands for Wigan. Unfortunately, on arrival at Springs Branch, no access could be gained. The council had erected concrete bollards, preventing the low loader to turn into the depot entrance. The lorry and load then headed to Warrington, where the shunter was unloaded shortly after.

Transferred away to Doncaster from Allerton on the 17th November 2006.

By the 14th April 2008, and after nearly for years out of use, it was reinstated to active status. During the 1st week in May, 08567 left Doncaster Carr by road and was deposited at Didcot, where it spent the best part of 5 months, operating in the yard. Sometime around the 18th October, 08567 was despatched north to Hinksey Yard in Oxford.

On the 16th or the 17th January 2009, 08567 was moved to back to Didcot Yard, swopping places with 08676. Using the same transport that brought 09106 down from Doncaster, 08567 was loaded at the rail hub at Milton Park, Didcot on the 12th February, and taken away to Doncaster Carr for a E exam. With exam completed at Doncaster, 08567 left South Yorkshire early on the 4th March, en-route to the cement works at Ketton, from where it was unloaded mid morning. On the 10th March, it transferred pools, swopping from WSSN to WSSK. Its transfer merry-go-round continued on the 20th March, when it left Ketton by road, deposited at Newport Docks mid morning, the same day. It now currently fluctuates between East Usk and the nearby ADJ yard. On the morning of the 25th April, 08567 left Newport by rail, en-route to Cardiff Tidal, from where it collected 08752. From here, they both proceeded to Cardiff Canton, where 08752 recieved repairs. By the monday ( 27th ), 08567 was back at ADJ. On the 3rd May, 08567 left ADJ for Cardiff Tidal, possibly to cover for one of the stricken shunters. On its way out of Newport, it also collected the stored 09017 from the nearby docks. This was also taken to Tidal. Within a day or so though, the 08 was back at Newport, working in and around ADJ.
