Previously at Eastleigh, 08711 left for the East Midlands by road on the morning of the 11th March 2004. It was unloaded at Toton, late in the same afternoon, and by the 24th, it was put into store. During repairs, 08711 was fitted with buckeye couplers, and with it being released to traffic and reinstatement on the 13th May, it was transferred into the WSEM pool.

On the 29th September 2008, 08711 left Toton by road, being deposited at Westbury.

Possibily to repairs needed, 08711 was put in to store on the 14th July 2009. Transferring from WSSN to WNTR, the RES liveried shunter, was the yard pilot at Westbury. On the morning of the 18th July, it was loaded and removed, heading out of the West Country, en-route to Doncaster Carr for an e exam. Stopping overnight at Michael Wood services on the M5, it continued its journey north, getting as far as the Midlands. Following a stop-over at Goodmans Yard on the sunday, the 08 continued its journey to South Yorkshire on monday morning ( 20th ), being deposited at Doncaster Carr as expected. Repairs / exam completed, on the 19th September, it was released back into traffic, being transferred from the WNTR storage pool to WFMU. On the 1st October though, the 08 was put back into store and WNTR.
