Previously at Eastleigh Works for repairs to its shifted cranks, it was moved to Cardiff Tidal on the 19th May 2007. Not long after arriving, 08752 suffered collision damage to its steps and exhauster box. By the 13th June, it was transferred to Margam, where the accident damage was attented to. A problematic radiator was also repaired during this time. With repairs almost complete, 08752 was awaiting for arrangements to be towed across to the Corus Works at Port Talbot to cure another shifted crank problem. Repairs still not completed, the centre wheelset was taken away to Toton on the 28th July for attention. By the 15th September and wheelset back at Margam, the shunter recieved a B exam and its wheelset put back into place. On the 21st October, with all repairs and attention completed, 08752 was finally put back into traffic, moving back to Cardiff Tidal.
Taken away for a brake block change, 08752 left Tidal by road to Margam on the 3rd July 2008. Upon completion, it was back at Tidal the next day. Sometime around the 31st July, 08752 left Cardiff Tidal, being deposited at Margam for a D exam. On the 15th October, 08752 left Margam by road, unloaded at Cardiff Tidal, later on in the day. Was back on the road again, leaving Tidal en-route to Cardiff Canton for tyre turning on the 18th November. Within 3 days and following the completion of its tyre turning, 08752 was returned back to Tidal.
Still at Cardiff Tidal, 08752 was put into store on the 13th February 2009, being transferred from WSSI to the WNTS storage fleet pool. On the 4th March, it was reinstated to traffic and WSSI. On the morning of the 25th April, the EWS liveried 08 was collected at Tidal by the arriving 08567, sent West light engine from Newport. From here, they both proceeded to Cardiff Canton, where 08752 recieved tyre turning / brake block changes. By the monday ( 27th ), it was back at Tidal, being dropped off by 08567. Due to a damaged crankshaft, con rod and big end bearing, on the 7th May, it was put into store by DBS, transferring from WSSI to WNTR. Margam bound, 08752 left Tidal late morning by road, heading West out of Cardiff on the 20th July. Whilst residing at the depot, it will recieve a new power unit, donated by the long term stored, 09003. As expected, 08752 recieved the donated power unit, mid afternoon on the 30th July. Leaving Margam on the 23rd August, it was deposited back at Cardiff Tidal, shortly after. Following its return to traffic, 08752 was reinstated to the WSSN pool on the 30th August, moving from WNTR. Due to problems with low power and overheating, 08752 was back on the road again, leaving Tidal for Margam on the 3rd September. With repairs completed, the 08 was put to use in the nearby Knuckle yard, possibily for testing / running in, with a view to be sent back to Tidal on the 18th September. As expected, the 08 and low lowder left Port Talbot steelworks on the 18th, en-route to Tidal, to where it arrived late morning.
