Whilst working at the ECC sidings at Quidhampton, 08762 was due to leave for Barrow Hill on the 12th March 2004 to undergo a D exam and cosmetic attention. Trouble with the necessary paperwork, meant that it wasn't released until the 26th March, where its replacement, 08750, was brought up from Eastleigh. Sometime around the end of July, it was transferred north to Leeds, where it was deposited at Midland Road. Whilst there and so it was compatible with the MBA wagons, it was fitted with auto couplers, undertaken by the LNWR staff. On completion, 08762 was moved by road to Winnington on the 4th September, to where it would work with sister loco, 08648, at the former ICI works.
Suffering collision damage at ICI Northwich sometime in 2006, 08762, while the repairs were attented to, recieved an E exam at Wabtec during the December.
It was released on the 25th January 2007, back to Northwich, where it completed its contractual obligation for RT Rail.
By the 14th April 2008 though, it was returned to Doncaster, where it currently acts as one of the Wabtec pilots.
