Whilst residing at Doncaster Carr, 09007 was officially put into store on the 17th February 2004. Languishing out of use for just under 9 months, the mainline liveried shunter was reinstated to traffic on the 2nd November, moving to the WSEM pool. Co-inciding with its return to traffic, the 09 left Doncaster on the 5th, arriving at Goole by road, where it replaced the stricken 09106.

Moved from Doncaster Carr to Worksop on the 18th December 2006.

Sometimes in mid February 2008, it returned to Doncaster and was put into store. On the 30th July, 09007 still in South Yorkshire, it was reinstated to traffic. Around the same time, the Mainline liveried shunter was loaded for Liverpool, deposited at Allerton WRD the same day.

Due to the possible closure of the WRD, mid afternoon on the 4th December 2009, 09007 was loaded and removed from Allerton by road. En-route to the East Midlands, it was deposited at Toton, early evening. The following day, the shunter was placed in store, moving from WSSN to the WNTR pool.
