During a ceremony held at the Tinsley TMD open day, 09008 was named Sheffield Childrens Hospital. The unveiling, held on the 29th September 1990, was performed by Nerys Owen, a matron at the hospital. The naming was in honour of the twinning between the depot and the hospital, with the TMD raising many funds for the children wards. Sometime in September 1993, the name was removed.
On the 5th January 2004, it was stopped at Cardiff Canton and placed on decision. Four days later, 09008 recieved an A exam and upon completion, it was released back into traffic on the 13th January. Sometime in May however, it was taken out of traffic, and put into store, being transferred to the WNTR pool. With Pullman Rail taking over at Canton, some of the resident shunters were being moved away to make more room at the depot. 09008 was one of them, and on the 10th October, it was taken to Cardiff Tidal. At this point, it was intially thought to continue its stint in store. However, it still saw active traffic, being used as the Tremorfa pilot.
On the 28th October 2005, it was removed from Cardiff Tidal, and taken north to the West Midlands, to where it was unloaded at Bescot TMD.
Can be found in the middle of Bescot Yard amongst the other stored locos.
