Was officially stored on the 5th February 2004 at Carlisle Kingmor Yard. By the 12th February, it was taken the short distance to Carlisle Currock, where it was reinstated back to active traffic on the 7th March. Unfortuantely, its reprieve only lasted three days, because it was stopped again on the 10th. Although stored at Currock, it still continued to see use at the C&W pilot. On the 2nd April though, it was stopped once again, due to the return to traffic of the repaired and reinstated 08738. During its stint in store, 08485 managed to work its way up to the nearby Kingmoor Yard on the 6th May, with a trip working to collect crippled wagons for the C&W depot. Unfortunately for the 08, it couldn't make its way back on its own, so it was hauled back to Currock in the consist of the return trip working behind 08866, which was one of the Kingmoor pilots.
Whilst it was at Currock, it spent most of its storage time, inside the wagon works.
By the end of February 2008, it returned to active service at Carlisle Kingmoor Yard, where it currently resides.
