Due to suffering from unknown faults, 08489 was stored WNTR on the 2nd July 2004 at Millerhill TMD.
Around the end of December 2008, 08489 was purchased by TJ Thomson's following EWS's decision to put it up for sale.
On the 30th January 2009, 08489 left Millerhill for Stockton, to where it was deposited at TJ Thomson's, later in the day. The 1st May, saw 08489 succumb to the cutters torch, and was scrapped at Thomson's.
