Previously dumped at Crewe DMD, RT Rail owned 08535, was removed from the DMD on the 4th March 2004, and tripped the short distance to the nearby LNWR for attention.
It was transferred to RMS Locotec early in September 2007, where it was used as a spares donor.
With 08535 being just a shell, having no engine and very little in the way of cab instruments, it was taken away from RMS sometime around the 18th January 2009, deposited at the Corus steel works at Shotton, later in the day. Sometime during the 15th September 2009, 08535 was removed by road, leaving Shotton for Booth's, to where it arrived in Rotherham shortly after. Six days later ( 21st ), it was finally put out of its misery, when the empty shell was dismantled and scrapped.
