Previously languishing at Toton, 08561 left the East Midlands by road and was deposited at Bescot on the 20th March 2004. On the 15th April, it was put out of its misery, and stored WNTR, still at Bescot. With completion of its repairs, it was reinstated to traffic on the 28th June, moving into the WSWR pool. The 1st July saw the 08 loaded and removed from Bescot, being taken south to Swindon, to where it was unloaded late afternoon.
At Swindon and out of use, it was officially stored in November 2005.
Leaving Temple Mills for Humberside on the 5th December 2006, it reached Immingham the next day and was supposed to be deposited at the TMD, but for some reason, was turned round and taken to Doncaster Carr TMD instead, where it languished in and around the shed area.
A long term resdient at Doncaster Carr, 08561 was extracted, leaving by road on the 22nd July 2009. Arriving at Toton a while later, it is to be used as a spares donor during its stay.
