On the 6th November 2006, it was admitted to Wabtec, Doncaster for a C exam and electrical repairs. By the 20th, it was unloaded at Ilford T&RSMD, where it spent its time as the depot pilot.
Sometime around the 25th May 2008, 08588 left Ilford for March Whitemoor Yard, replacing 08754. After tyre turning was completed on 08754 and with it returning to March, 08588 left Whitemoor sometime towards the end of June, being deposited at Teesport, Middlesbrough, where it currently resides.
