Departing from RFS Industries ( Wabtec ), 08596 left Doncaster on the 5th January 2004, en-route to Whatley Quarry, where it was hired out to Hanson Aggregates LTD. Sometime around mid May though, it was back at Doncaster. On the 5th October, the shunter was back out on hire, being loaned out to Cotswold Rail, where it arrived at Daventry's IRFT, mid afternoon. After suffering with unknown faults, 08596 was removed by road, leaving the FLT on the 12th November, being taken back to South Yorkshire. Repairs completed, it was returned back to Daventry by the 8th December.
