During the middle of February 2008, 08630 underwent a fresh EWS repaint in readiness for a forthcoming naming ceremony at Margam. On the 14th March, at the depot, was named ' Bob Brown ', a well respected driver who sadly passed away whilst on duty at the TMD in November 2005. The private ceremony was attended by eight of Bob's family and staff from Margam depot. Due to undergoing repairs to a defective buck eye coupler, it was put into store on the 8th December.
With repairs all completed, 08630 was reinstated back to traffic and the WSSI on the 13th February 2009. After being made available for traffic, it was put to use, piloting the nearby Knuckle Yard. Sometime in mid September though, the newly repaired 08752, took over the duties, and 08630 found itself back at the TMD.
