Whilst at Margam, 08662 was officially put into store on the 23rd February 2004. By the 27th though, it was reinstated back into traffic.
Previously at Doncaster, it had replaced 08393 at Peak Forest during the July and September 2007. After returning to Yorkshire, 08662 spent 5 months back at Doncaster.
By the 26th February 2008, it was transferred north, operating as the Carlisle Kingmoor yard pilot. Six months later, it left Kingmoor and headed south to Springs Branch, Wigan. It arrived in the North West by road, sometime around the 28th or the 29th August, for unknown repairs. On the 29th October, 08662 was officially put into store at Springs Branch.
