On the 20th July 1999, 08683 was officially placed into store at Cardiff Canton. By the 23rd September though, it was reinstated back to traffic.
Officially stored on the 5th February 2004 at Toton TMD.
08683 was extracted from the compound at Toton sometime between the 6th and 9th March 2007. It was initially thought to be Stockton and TJ Thomson's bound, but was in fact deposited at Goodman's Yard a day later, where its been ever since.
After languishing for well over two years, on the 18th November 2009, 08683 was removed from the yard by road, and taken to the Gloucestershire / Warwickshire Railway. Unloaded at the Toddington depot, it is hoped to be repaired in time, for use at the xmas diesel gala.
