Notes : Whilst languishing at Immingham, 08689 was put into store on the 27th February 2004. With repairs completed, it was reinstated back to traffic on the 17th April. By the 22nd June though, it was back stored, being moved to the WNTR pool. Due to 09020 being stored at Hardendale, 08689 was once again reinstated to traffic, transferring to WSSC on the 21st September. On the 24th, it was loaded and removed from Immingham, arriving at Hardendale the next morning, where it replaced the stricken 09. On the 6th December, 08689 left Hardendale mid afternoon, to where it headed north to Scotland, being deposited at Motherwell.
Previously working at Westbury and latterly at Newport ADJ, 08689 was transferred north on the 22nd September 2007 to Dee Marsh. After EWS lost the shunting contract at Shotton and Dee Marsh, by the 6th December, it was moved to Toton. On the 14th December, it was officially put into store and moved from the depot complex to the nearby compound, where it currently resides.
