08695 was rumoured to have been sold on to the Chasewater Railway. By the 5th July 2007 however, it had been brought by TJ Thomson's and was transferred away from Ayr to Stockton. Early September, the ownership changed hands once again, this time the buyer being HNRC at Barrow Hill. It was taken south by road by the 10th September, where it was expected to be repairs for a possible return to shunting duties. However, this failed to materialise, and the 08 was left dumped in the roundhouse complex.
Update: Latterly owned by HNRC, a swap deal with CF Booth's was put into place. This involved the former Healey Mills resident, 08665 moving from Booth's to Barrow Hill. As expected, the move took place on the 17th December 2009, and 08695 was transported the short distance to Rotherham, where it was unloaded, shortly after. Work soon got underway of disposing of the shunter, and by the next day ( 18th ), the 08 was little more than just frames, its scrapping near enough completed.
