Latterly working in Toton Yard, on the 12th June 2008, 08703 left the East Midlands by road, being deposited at Sheerness, replacing 08886.
On the afternoon of the 13th August 2009, 08703 left Sheerness by road. Suffering from unknown faults, it was loaded, leaving Kent for South Yorkshire, to where it was deposited at Doncaster Carr, late evening. To complement the needing of repairs, 08703 was transferred to store on the 19th August, moving from WSSN to the WNTS pool. For a replacement for the out of use 08888 at Ketton, 08703 was loaded and removed from Doncaster Carr on the morning of the 25th August. Arriving early afternoon at the cement works, problems with the new shunter some became apparent, when shortly after unloading, it failed to start ! As expected though, the 08 was officially reinstated to traffic on arrival, moving from WNTS to the WSSK construction pool.
