I was just checking Scot-rail for times for something and there were reports of 08706 heading south on the M74. It might have come up on a trip working to Mossend Yesterday. Any ideas of it's location and / or a replacement for Ayr (Falkland Yard)?

I would very much doubt it would be tripped to Mossend. Given there are loading / unloading facilities at Ayr TMD, it wouldn't need to.
As for its location - Toton or Doncaster Carr. Take your pick, cause it'll be one or the other.
And for its replacement, there won't be one. 08706 has been out of use for a while now, and Falkland Yard has continued to keep going, by using mainline locos to do the shunting. I could be wrong though, but i'd be very surprised if one was sent to replace it.
