Previously operating at Warrington for a couple of years, 08706 was loaded and removed from Arpley on the 25th June 2004, en-route to Bescot, to where it was deposited a few hours later. This move was due to the arrival of 08389 at Warrington.
Arrived at Ayr TMD on the evening of the 24th July 2007 from Bescot, covering for the long term demic, 09103. It was then tripped to the nearby Falkland Yard, from it where it saw use as the pilot.
Previously out of use at Ayr TMD, 08706 was loaded and removed by road on the 14th September 2009. Leaving early morning, it headed south for repairs, en-route for Toton, to where it was unloaded at the Balfour Beatty sidings, Sandiacre on the 17th. With assessment taken place at the TMD, 08706 was transferred to store on the 1st October, moving from WSSM to WNTR. Whilst undergoing repairs at Toton, 08706 was fitted with the remote control equiment. On the morning of the 22nd November, it was loaded on road transport, leaving the East Midlands for the West Country. Arriving at Westbury around midday, the EWS liveried 08 was unloaded in the yard, to where it is to undergoing RC trials. Five days later, on the 27th, it was reinstated back into traffic, moving to the WSSN pool.
Update: Shortly after being deposited at Westbury, problems with the fuel pump, put the 08 out of use and a class 60 was used as the yard shunter. Due to the arrival of 08757, the defective 08 was loaded and removed, leaving the West Country on the 16th, en-route to Toton for repairs.
