Officially stored on the 5th February 2004 at Margam TMD.

Latterly at Onllwyn Washery, was moved to Margam in the beginning of April 2007. Later in the year, it was transferred over to the Celsa Works at Cardiff Tidal, where it was taken out of use following disintegrating to its big end bearing. Due to no road access for HGV's at Margam, 08770 was deposited at Port Talbot on the 11th August, being tripped the short distance to the Knuckle yard. Once admitted to the depot, work on changing a con rod bearing commenced. It was also awaiting approval for a crankshaft regrind on the journal that had collasped the big end bearing.

By the 13th April 2008, all repairs to the con rod and big end were completed and was returned to active use in the Knuckle Yard. Unfortunately, on the 19th May, it was back in the TMD, undergoing more repairs. To get the shunter back to active use, it recieved a rod and bearing from one of the stored shunters, currently languishing at Margam. Around the beginning of June though, all repairs were completed and 08770 was then considered to be a spare loco. On the 11th June, the 08 was officially stored at Margam TMD. With the six new class 66's arriving in Wales, the Departmental grey liveried shunter was moved away from Margam to Newport ADJ on the 20th June to help out with any shunting requirements in the docks. With 08782 being deposited at ADJ, 08770 was surplus to requirements and subsequently taken away to Margam on the 2nd July. Although still officially stored, 08770 worked in the Knuckle Yard, covering for the usual pilot, 08646, which was at the TMD for repairs. Like previously in the year, to help shunt the new class 66's at the docks, 08770 was once again despatched from Margam, leaving by road for Newport on the 5th November. Now the new class 66's have been unloaded and despatched north, 08770 was taken back to Margam, sometime between the 6th and 9th November.

Currently resides by the side of the TMD at Margam.
