Whilst at Tinsley Yard, 08784 was stored WNTR on the 23rd May 2004. Due to repairs needed, it left by road for Doncaster Carr on the 6th June, to where it was deposited shortly after. Reinstated to the WSEM pool on the 21st September, 08784 was made available for traffic, following completion of its exam.

Sometime during the middle of February 2008, 08784 left Carlisle Kingmoor, being returned to Doncaster. By the 28th April though, it had replaced Doncaster bound 08909 at Ketton Cement Works.

Due to it been problematic at Ketton, 08784 was taken away by road on the 4th March 2009, and deposited at Doncaster Carr later in the day. On the 10th March, it was stored WNTR. With repairs all completed, it left Doncaster on the 18th March by road, en-route back to Ketton. A few days after its arrival at the cement works, 08784 was reinstated back to traffic on the 20th March, swopping from WNTR to the WSSN pool. The next day however, it was moved into the WSSK construction pool. Problems continued with 08784 at Ketton, with the shunter being taken out of use with various faults, sometime around the 12th May. The future doesn't look to good for 08784, as it has once again, been taken out of service. On the morning of the 2nd June, due to the casings that hold the traction motors in place failing, the main gear set has dropped, causing its breakdown. Due to it falling to bits, 08784 was loaded and removed by road on the 6th June, leaving for the East Midlands in the morning. On arrival at Toton shortly after, it was unloaded from where it will undergo repairs and a possible move into storage. On the 16th June, as expected, 08784 was put into store, moving from WSSK to the WNTS pool.
