At a private ceremony in June 2000, held at Eastleigh TMD, 08804 was named ' Richard Wrenham '. The naming, witnessed by members of his family, was in memory of Mr Wrenham, a fitter at Eastleigh, who sadly died in a motorcycle accident in 1999.
Whilst at Eastleigh, 08804 was put into store on the 24th March 2004. By the 27th though, it left Hampshire by road and was taken to Didcot, where it was unloaded later in the day. Although it was still showing as being stored, it was available for use. On the 13th April, 08804 left Didcot, and was tripped the short distance to Hinksey Yard. Two days later, it was reinstated to traffic and the WSWR pool.
Previously used as the yard pilot at Didcot, 08804 was moved south to Eastleigh for repairs, sometime during late 2007 / early 2008. By the middle of February 2008 though, it had turned up at Crewe EMD. Following the completion of unspecified repairs, it left Crewe on the 10th March, heading down the motorway back to Eastleigh, where it currently resides. On the 29th October, it was officially put into store at Eastleigh TMD.
Sometime around the 7th April 2009 and to cover for the usual pilot, 09019, 08804 was tripped the short distance to the yard from Eastleigh depot. Subsequently, on the 24th, it was reinstated to traffic and WSSN. Following a short spell out of use, 08804 was removed from Eastleigh Yard on the 12th August. Taken away by road, it was deposited at Toton the next morning. On the 19th August and following assessment, the 08 was put in to store, transfering from WSSN to the WNTS pool. With repairs / exam now completed at Toton, the EWS liveried 08 was reinstated to traffic, being moved from WNTS to the WFMU pool. On the 1st October though, 08804 was put back into store and WNTR.
