Whilst operating at the waste sidings at Calvert, it was stored HNRS on the 2nd June 2004. Moving to Whitemoor yard,March on the 14th June, it was reinstated to the active HNRL pool on the 18th. Due to the extension of the yard, and the shunter not being mainline registered, it left for the Severn Valley Railway diesel gala, being deposited at Kidderminster on the 30th September. With the open day being held on the sunday ( 2nd October ), the 08 was used as an exhibit at the C&W works. Around the 8th October, it left the Midlands by road, en-route to Norwich. This was due to 08818 being hired by Cotswold Rail from HNRC, for use at Crown Point T&RSMD. This move was to cover for the Daventry bound and previous depot pilot, 08871.
On the 16th July 2007, 08818 took over the pilot duties at Flixborough Wharf, mainly because 08423 suffered fire damage and was consequently out of action, but also, it was due to the shunting contract being took over from RMS to HNRC.
Currently, it is still at Flixborough Wharf.
