Whilst languishing at Temple Mills, 08854 was put into store on the 27th February 2004.
On the 9th May 2008, was officially stored at Margam TMD, where it spent some time residing amongst the other stored locos in the adjacent yard. Around the 10th August, 08854 was brought in to the depot area from the aforementioned yard. Whether it will be repaired or used just as a spares donor, remains to be seen.
During the latter part of April 2009, its remote control equipment was removed, being donated to Toton's resident, 08757.
