Withdrawn from traffic in December 2006 at headquarters.
After recieving an overhaul at the LH Group, 08873 left Barton under Needwood for Manchester, being deposited at Trafford Park on the 14th November 2006. During its time in the North West, the RES liveried was outbased at the Kelloggs Company, operating about 10 trip workings per day between Barton Dock FLT and Trafford Park FLT.
Sometime around the 4th May 2007, it was back at the LH Group for more repairs. Sometime during the middle of November, with repairs completed, 08873 made its move south to Felixstowe, where it spent its time working in the north FLT.
Due to the arrival of 08691 from Southampton, 08873 left Felixstowe on the 7th January 2009, en-route to Trafford Park, to where it was deposited later on in the day. After spending a short while out of use at the FLT, 08873 was removed on the 8th or 9th August, en-route to the LH Group, to where it was deposited later in the day.
Update: Sometime around the 11th/12th December, the 08 was removed from the LH Group by road, and taken to Round Oak steel terminal, Brierley Hill. Due to the resident internal shunter being currently out of use with accident damage, 08873 has gone on hire to Round Oak Rail LTD, whilst the shunter is being repaired.
