Latterly operating as one of the Wabtec pilots, the GNER liveried 08, left Doncaster by road on the 11th November. Arriving at Tyseley around dinner time, it was to provide cover for the departing and usual depot pilot, 08616.
From Crewe, on the 18th October 2007, 08892 was deposited at the North Pole Depot in West London, where it spent just under a month. On the 15th November, it was loaded and taken north back to Crewe.
Sometime around the 14th July 2008, 08892 was hired out to HNRC from DRS and it left Crewe Gresty Bridge, being deposited at the Fastline depot at Roberts Road, Doncaster. This was due to the fact that the usual yard pilot, 08527, was undergoing repairs on site. After its contractual work was completed at Doncaster, 08892 was taken to the LaFarge sidings at Hope on the 4th or 5th September, where it was used to haul a shuttle around the complex for the site's open day.
Currently, it is still at LaFarge.
