During a ceremony at Bristol Temple Meads station, 08896 was named Stephen Dent, a local railway employee, who sadly died during mid 1997. The unveiling, taking place on the 26th September 1997, was performed by Mairread Dent, the widow of Stephen.
On the 28th January 2004, 08896 left Bristol for the East Midlands, being deposited at Toton for attention. During its assessment, it was officially stored on the 5th February. Whilst undergoing repairs, it lost its Stephen Dent nameplates.
08896 left Toton by road on the morning of 9th March 2007. It was unloaded at Goodman's Yard later in the day, where it spent the best part of well over 2 years, langushing in the yard.
The former Moveright International owned shunter, left Goodmans Yard for the Severn Valley Railway on the 19th November 2009. Leaving Wishaw by road, 08896 was deposited at Kidderminster shortly after. Now classed as a preserved loco, it is currently dumped by the turntable, with it being used as a source of spares.
