Whilst at Doncaster Wabtec, on the 5th February 2004, 08922 was put into store. The 19th March saw it leave Doncaster by road, deposited at Dee Marsh later in the day. It was also subsequently reinstated back to active traffic.

Latterly at Polmadie T&RSMD, 08922 was brought south to Doncaster Carr, sometime around the end of July 2008 for repairs or possible storage. On the 29th October, 08922 was put into store at. After spending just 13 days out of use, 08922 was reinstated to traffic on the 11th November, still residing in South Yorkshire. While undergoing an E exam at Doncaster Carr, 08922 was once again, added to the storage list on the 8th December. During the exam, it also recieved at repaint. The new livery is very similiar to its previous departmental grey colours, with it being outshopped in light grey with dark grey cab doors and roof.

Fresh from its repaint and repairs, 08922 was reinstated to traffic on the 10th March 2009, consequently swopping from WNTR to the WSSN pool. From its release, 08922 spent a short while piloting Decoy yard, before entering the TMD again. Sometime around the 19th March though, it was inside the depot, undergoing an A exam. This co-incided with its return to store on the 18th March, transferring back into the WNTR pool from WSSN. On the 25th March, it left Doncaster early morning by road, en-route to Crewe EMD for tyre turning. Upon completion, it was reloaded and taken north to Carlisle on the 1st or 2nd April, from where it was deposited at Kingmoor yard. The following day ( 3rd ), it was reinstated to traffic and the WSSN pool.
