Whilst being used as the pilot at the North Pole depot, 08948 suffered a fire sometime around the end of May 2004. A decision was made on its future, and on the 17th September, it left West London by road, being taken to Barrow Hill for repair and overhaul.
Sometime around the 19th October 2007, 08948 was moved across London from the North Pole depot to the new Eurostar T&RSMD at Temple Mills, where it currently resides.
