At St. Blazey, 08993 was put into store on the 5th February 2004.

The former Washwood Heath yard pilot left the West Midlands for Doncaster Carr in early February 2007, in readiness for use on the Manchester Metrolink project. With a fresh coat of paint and sporting white wheel rims, 08993 was deposited at Bury, ELR on the 2nd May. Sometime around the 14th August, with work almost complete on the revamp, it sufferred faults and was replaced by 08623, sent in from Doncaster. Around the end of August, 08993 left Bury for Doncaster, where it sat languishing before being taken away to Toton on the 19th December.

By the 26th February 2008, it was on the move again, transferred north to Carlisle Kingmoor, where it was used as one of the yard pilots.

After being out of use for a period, 08993 left Kingmoor by road, leaving Carlisle on the 4th April 2009, to where it was deposited at Doncaster Carr late evening. Due to much needed repairs, it was put into store, transferring from WSSN to WNTS on the 3rd, before it left Carlisle. The 29th April, saw 08993 transferring pools, moving from WNTS to WNTR. Repairs completed at Doncaster Carr, the cut down cab 08 was reinstated to traffic on the 14th July, being moved to the WSSN pool. Early afternoon on the 22nd July, 08993 left Doncaster by road, being deposited at Mossend late evening, to where it replaced the defective yard pilot, 08605. Leaving Mossend on the 11th November, 08993 headed south early afternoon, en-route back to South Yorkshire. Arriving sometime during early evening, it was deposited at Doncaster Carr, for a possible stint in store. Two days later ( 13th ), it was officially taken out of traffic, moving to the WNTR storage pool from WSSN.

Update: With repairs completed, the cut down cab 08, was accepted back into traffic on the 11th December, being reinstated with its previous WSSN pool.
