Whilst at Swindon, 08994 was officially put into store on the 5th February 2004, where it spent the majority of the time, dumped in Cocklebury yard. Sometime around the 10th July, it left Swindon for South Wales, to where it was deposited at Cardiff Canton later on. Due to Pullman Rail taking over at Canton, the cut down cab 08 was moved the short distance to Tidal sidings, where it continued its stint in storage

On the 27th January 2007, 08994 left Peak Forest for Doncaster Carr, in readiness for the Metrolink revamp in Manchester. Following a repaint and white wheel rims, it was deposited at Bury on the East Lancs Railway on the 2nd May. With the Metrolink operation completed, the cut down cab shunter left Bury on the 9th September and was taken the short distance to Castleton engineers sidings, before being taken back to Doncaster a few months later.

On the 20th March 2008, 08994 was officially put into store by EWS. After only being in store for 2 weeks, it was transferred to Worksop, replacing the former pilot, 08633. By the 9th May though, it was back on the move again, this time being deposited at the FLT at Hams Hall. It was subsequently officially reinstated to active status. During the 6th June, it was removed yet again from its residence, this time spending the weekend on a low loader at Goodmans yard, before being unloaded at Bescot the following monday. On the morning of the 20th September, 08994 left Bescot by road, deposited at Doncaster Carr, later the same day. The 29th October, saw 08994 once again put into store at Doncaster Carr, where it currently resides.

The 29th April 2009, saw 08994 transferring pools, moving from WNTS to WNTR.
