08995 was moved by road to Doncaster on the 6th December 2006, where it spent 2 weeks before being transferred to Thornaby for use in the nearby Tees yard.
On the 13th February 2007, it was back at Doncaster in readiness for its stint on the Manchester Metrolink revamp. Sporting a repaint and white wheel rims, the cut down cab shunter was moved by road to the ELR at Bury on the 2nd May. On September 9th and following completion of the Metrolink, it was moved the short distance to Castleton engineers sidings, where it spent one day, before being taken away back down to Doncaster.
On the 20th March 2008, it was put into store, still residing at Doncaster Carr. With the demise of 09006 at Hoo Junction, a long awaited reprieve came for 08995 on the 8th May, when it was taken away by road, being deposited at Hoo, the next day. During the 13th May, it was officially allocated back to active traffic by EWS.
On the 1st April 2009, 08995 was loaded and removed from Hoo Junction by road, leaving Kent for a move to Doncaster Carr. The 29th April, saw 08995 put into store at Doncaster Carr, moving from its previous pool WSSN, to WNTR. Upon completion of its repairs at Doncaster Carr, the EWS liveried 08, was reinstated to traffic and WSSN on the 14th July. Three days and on the 17th, it left South Yorkshire early evening, en-route to Westbury, to where it was deposited the next morning. Due to the arrival of 08706 at Westbury, the cut down cab equipped 08995, left on the same transport, mid afternoon on the 22nd November. Following a possible overnight stop-over, the 08 reached Hoo Junction, its destination, the following day.
