09021Has left Immingham by road and deposited at Booth's on the 24 July, for disposal. It will be the first 09 to be cut up.

I'm surprised none of the shunter hire companies are interested in the class 09?? Having declined 09 004, 025 and now 021!

On site at Booth's, 09021 was scrapped on the 26th July.

I thought the 09's were immune from scrapping!!
How come 021 was stopped/canibalised??

I think it had problematic wheelsets. Must have been something serious for it to be out of use for so long. At the end, it was heavily canibalised, with its buffers, centre wheels and both cranks, all missing. And to round it off, the track around it, was took up when it was announced that Immingham was closing, leaving it isolated on a small set of rails.
It won't be the last 09 to be cut up either. 09016 at St. Blazey, looks like that's going to be cut up on site, maybe in the next month or so.

Regarding 09021 it was withdrawn in February 2004 at the beginning of the great shunter cull, stopped at Wabtec Doncaster where it had been undergoing/awaiting repairs prior to being deemed surplus to requirements. I believe traction motors was the problem.
