Bescot/Long Marston 06/06/2009

On Bescot at 1030 were 08632 shunting in the yard. 08653 at the south end of the tmd. One uid shunter in the virtual quarry with a rake of yellow network rail wagons. Due to the rain I didn't fancy number crunching the stored ones.

On long marston this aft were 08345, 728, 736, 869, 813, 827, 668, 517??no number on it. There is also quite a few industrial shunters but I didn't write down any of these:(( ps this is not an exhaustive list from the site.
My first time there and worth every penny.

Regards
Simon

Most probably 08907, which has been piloting the engineers yard for the majority of this week. Not sure if you could manage to see a bit of it, but hiding behind the rake of parcels, is 08709.

Have you managed to dry out yet  Rolling Eyes
Out of your list Simon, you're missing 08928. This was parked in between 20016 and 20081.

Both 08517 and 08668 had the same distinctive livery, that of pale blue and yellow cabs. Some wag had written D3482 ( i think ) on both locos, confusing most i would imagine. Certainly the ones i was standing by, anyway  Confused

Although the weather wasn't the best, i thought the layout of the locos was much better than the last two open days. My only gripe was the two above 08's mentioned, were parked in near enough the same places as previously. Couldn't get any decent piccies of them before, and still didn't !!

What was the 08 behind (08668) if that is right, and in front of 37696.

I also recorded an 08 numbered H049 13 at Long Marston.
Anyone know its original identity?

That was 08517, sat in between the 37696 and 08668, as you've rightly said.

Last years event, 517, 668 and 928 had bits of paper attached to them, with the number written down. Quite why they had all been ripped off this year, i don't know. A souvenir for somebody perhaps  Rolling Eyes

As Aaron quite rightly pointed out, it's a Dutch State thing  Rolling Eyes  Very Happy

Before coming to England, it's former identity was 649 / 692, before RMS Locotec renumbered it to H049 / #13 for use at Teesport. I don't know the date when it moved to Long Marston, but this is its home now.

The website below gives you a little bit of info, albeit a liitle outdated.
