Cardiff Tidal Sidings - 10th June 2009

08782, 08951 and 09017 were all available for traffic at Cardiff Tidal today with 08752 awaiting road movement for cylinder repairs.

Looking at that steel carrier, it's no wonder the Tidal shunters suffer from shifted cranks, hauling that amount of weight.

Thanks Bob. 08466 is still sick and a low loader move north looks inevitable in order that specialist equipment can be used to diagnose its fault.

The issue with weight has been addressed and I am not aware of any further problems with shifted cranks since.

For the 'wagonophiles' amongst you, the sagging wagon is MB416 fromerly BDA 950979.
.
It's not solely the weight of the billets that causes the sag - the heat of the billets compounds the problem, just look at the heat haze above the wagon.
.
Unlike BAA, BBA etc wagons, I don't think these were built to carry hot steel products.
