Previous Numbers   : D3101, 13101
Status                     : Preserved  ( owner - Private )
Current Livery         : BR black
Notes                      : Fitted with screw couplings.

Built at Derby Works in 1955, D3101 spent its entire BR career, based in the Southern Region. Its first depot was Norwood Junction, followed by spells at Ashford and Eastleigh, before returning to Ashford, to where it was withdrawn from traffic in May 1972.

With just over a year passing, a reprive came for the 08, when it was purchased from BR by Amey Roadstone Company ( ARC ) in March 1973. Used as the yard pilot, adajacent to Loughborough station, D3101 carried the company's yellow livery whilst under ownership.

December 1984, the shunter was sold on to preservation. Purchased privately from ARC, D3101's home was the Great Central Railway, situated no more than a mile away from the sidings. However, due to weight restrictions, the move had a 40 mile detour !

Since arriving at the Loughborough shed, D3101 has never been started up, and although it has recieved a repaint, there are no current plans to restore the loco.
