East Midland Rover/Neville Hill

Hello All,
Sightings and disappointments from 10th - 13th September

Crewe LNWR : 08868

DIRFT : 08872,08907 [too far away for name!]

Crying or Very sad
Wolverton : 08629 [looking good]

LH Group : After all the advice, and assistance, never managed to get there!! Evil or Very Mad

Worksop : If 08633 is in the yard,it is disguised as one of the hundreds of EWS hoppers. Two return trips from Worksop to Shirebrook and 'a fat nothing'to show for it!!

Neville Hill : 08950,08690,08908
Asked the yard shunter for location of 08525;I received directions to field on opposite side to main line, where 08525 could be viewed,at end of yard.Spent 20 mins.watching bottom end of yard, only for view to be obscured by stabled HST! Mad

I thought 08872 is stored unserviceable at Immingham, was it 08742 you saw at Daventry?

Neville Hill 08690/724/908/950-525 was working the bottom end of the yard and as positioned inside the long servicing shed adjacent to the main line as the Open Day commenced Confused  Sad  Evil or Very Mad (not sure how I feel about this one Exclamation)

Hi Martin,
I have two observations :-
[1] The fitter at Neville Hill informed me that 08525 had had parts removed ,in order to donate them  to the other operational shunters .

[2] On Saturday I saw an eight  x DBS light engine move, whilst at Barnetby, heading for Doncaster.
A couple of hours later I  also arrived at Doncaster, and immediately went to Doncaster Carr hoping to 'cop' 09107.
Not only was 09107 not on view;NO shunters were on view,as the light engine move, previously seen, and forgotten, was stabled alongside the whole length of the car park fencing!! Shocked

I think that your trip was more profitable that mine.Better luck next time.

Frank..

Re 08525-my comments were based on what I was told by NL workers who said it was at bottom end of yard.Didn't see it from park so no idea what state it was in.

I visited Carr Sunday afternoon where there were still a few 66's on shed but moving them around so shunters became visible.

Can't take the credit for this one. Ian wrote this one up.

Shame that, as i managed to see 08623 at Tinsley   Cool

Nothing at Masborough, so why on earth did you go there  Confused  Rolling Eyes

Hit and miss at Worksop, im afraid guys. The shunter is usually tucked away, by or inside the shed at weekends. Saying that, it ain't hardly visable during the week either !
MartinHarrison

Seen the picture of 08623-if you could put directions for weekends that would be great Exclamation

I used to drive down to the bottom end by following the road into Sheffield off the Motorway junction and taking a left at some point but long time ago and can't remember directions now.Obviously a better way nowadays.

Always go to Masborough as close to Booths and sometimes still keep 66's here at weekends-went to check to see if 08 was there as used to stable at Masborough in the past(desperate people etc etc).

Sounds about right, does that Rob.

If you've not had a look at the new Tinsley directions, i've added additions for folk who have either come by tram, or visited during the week. If the latter, the shunter may well be seen from a further two vantage points, so i've given the reader all options to see the it.

Just looked at Google maps-how simple is that Embarassed  Embarassed

Assumed that after developing the'For Sale/Rent' SIRFT,couldn't get over that side of complex.

Oh well,maybe next time...
