08495 WNTR Toton C/587 expected ok 30/10

Another purchase by RMS i shouldn't wonder.

What's the crack with Shotton ?  I can't fathom out why there are so many shunters outbased there. Obviously, there are the two which pilot Dee Marsh, but 08445, 08535, 08699 have visited Shotton in the last couple of months. Now 08809 looks like it'll make the journey aswell.

Are they spares donors, cause 08699 & 08809 haven't turned a wheel in god knows how long  Confused

I read this one as well-08605 back at Donny from Toton Shocked -would have thought all necessary work would be within the capabilities of Toton Confused -Martin

I wouldn't take no notice of that Mart. We've had this trouble before, regarding its location. As far as i'm still aware, it is still at Toton.

Regarding the RC 08's - we could do with Craig having a wander around Toton, cause i need confirmation on whether WNXX reports are correct. See if you can find 08605 aswell, while you am there  Wink

i have a feeling 809 is now RMS just a feelin a fitter said something about it
br2975

I think we can look forward to DB(S) fitting R/C gear to a proportion of it's remaining 08s.
.
One way of keeping costs down, and doing away with shunting staff !
.
But, with only one pair of eyes instead of two, watch out for some bumps a la Tidal & Tremorfa.

Worst fears department; take this R/C lark to it's logical conclusion and run the entire network like the Docklands system, no drivers at all, just a few controllers sat in a lineside box somewhere.

well Ketton is a safe haven for 08's so ur goin to see them there for a while and u cant use a remote control one there

From today's Latest News;
Noted leaving the A55 near Shotton on a low loader yesterday 08809 (CREL) has been transported over from Allely's, Studley.

Why not?

because they wont train us for 1 and u cant use remote control on the bank coz u cant use sanders via remote

Oh no you can't.  Laughing

Incidentally, do EWS kit out their lions with umbrellas?  Laughing
gazearn

lol

they seem to like screwing there workers over they will be lucky if there is any blokes working for them soon

Approval for the kitting out of some 08s with R/C was given very early on in the year.

I think its therefore possible DBS might not use the same R/C equipment as they did with both "886/921", and 466/854/752/782/951etc, and I imagine they would have sorted out any operational restrictions e.g. sanders.

Despite reliability & suitability problems pointed out by Brian, at least the decision to fit many shunters with R/C equipment would imply that DBS have decided not to replace permanent shunting locos with visiting mainline locos.

I suspect all the shunters sent to Toton for repairs vice Doncaster Carr are for eventualy R/C treatment, which would explain why the recently stopped class 09s have gone to Donny instead of Toton.

Rhys.

08854 will never run again. All usefull bits that still worked were taken off to help keep the others running.

And Yes, there is definately a sander control on the remote boxes.

Does anyone know why 08921 has a different, much more subtle style of warning lights compared to the other Hima-Sella equipped locos (08466/752/782/854/951)?  Was it the first done and they were deemed not visible enough?
gazearn

if that was the case that one would of had to be changed so that it was
FRED

08921 Was the test bed of the Hima-Sella ones, the lights tended to be obscured by the wagons it was moving so the others had the other type.

Is the x/587 code correct?

I think there must be new dates now for this lot, except maybe 08804?
