Norwich 08

A Norwich shunter went up in flames yesterday.

Went to station to pick up a London set, about 2.30pm, was smoking.
Took set to Crown Point and burst into flames.

All power turned off for 90 minutes, stopping London services, while Yarmouth/Cromer services suspended as they go past the scene.

My informer said it was a green and white shunter - so my best guess is Silverlink-liveried 08874

No trains moved for 60-90 minutes.

No update on condition of shunter.

Hehe.
I chased it to Bletchley successfully.
Now in my hometown of Norwich, where my parents still are, so didn't need to do the chasing after all.

I will.....went to Norwich on hols in June.....saw 874 then. Twisted Evil

Actually, it was stabled round the back of the depot and not visible from any train. A drive into the depot and a right turn to the staff car park affords views down this side of the depot. A quick u-turn and then out in a matter of minutes.
We managed to see the elusive 47813 there together with 47810, 08847 and 08874.

I've never had a problem with driving in either. They did install a barrier, but within about a month it was left permanently up. Although you are trespassing, providing you don't get out of your car I don't think you'll have any probs.

You can sometimes get a view of stabled locos behind the depot from trains heading to London/Cambridge, but its end on so you can't tell the number.
